The very image of leadership

My wonderfully talented wife Lisa took this picture this morning in our back yard.  She emailed it to me and I was struck by the contrast of the colors as well as the immediate implication it had for me in the context of my thoughts on leadership.

This cardinal is not trying to stand out.  He is not being “redder” than he is any other time of the year.  He is not also not trying to hide who he is.  He is simply being the bird God created him to be.  Nothing more…nothing less.

Maybe that is the leadership lesson for all of us.  Instead of trying to be who we think we should be, maybe we should just be who God intended us to be.  Nothing more…nothing less & let Him take care of the rest.
